Overheating Or Not?

i have a digital thermometer on my 350ltr with the sensor half way down pointing to the middle of the tank, but also have a glass thermometer stuck to the glass. Now the thing is my digital one keeps reading 26oC an above its now reading ajust above 28oC, but my glass one is reading 25oC - 26oC? bearing in mind i haven't got my heater plugged in as didn't see the point of having it plugged in when its that temp already? My other tank in the same room always reads a steady 25oC with heater on? Now i'm confused is my digital one over reading an glass one right or vice versa? if u follow all that? please any help??

what's the temp in the room. I suppose digitals are supposed to be more accurate but for some reason I trust the good old glass ones more. I'd think the glass one would be correct. If you have a glass thermometer in another tank that you could transfer to this one then that should help sort this out.

not sure of temp in room hubby keeps saying prob good idea to get a thermometer in the room? an yes i do have another glass one one an swopped and made no difference? hubby says that poss that the temp in middle is different but if this is the case its not good?

it's possible that it is a different temperatuer in different places in the tank... try moving the glass thermometer and see if a difference is recorded. Best of luck. Oh and most heaters have internal thermostats. So if you had it plugged in it wouldn't matter. It wouldn't (or rather shouldn't) heat the tank because the temperature of the water is higher than the temperature set on the thermostat inside the heater.

i know my heater shouldn't heat the water if its at temp but one that came with the tank when i bought it kept over heating, so bought a new one, but did the same so i unplugged it about 3 - 4 weeks ago ish an not even needed it, it might just be that the temp in the room is high, hubby's allways saying he's hot, so tomorrow i'm off to see if i can find a room thermometer? if can't find one then just not worry about it for now, just leave it unplugged till it doe's start to drop a little, as at min its readin 28oC. but not alot i can do to be honest but it just dosn't feel that warm in here? oh well never mind fish seem ok at min, sure ill notice if they wern't lol

You could just leave the glass thermometer outside of the tank for a while to record the room temperature?
