Hi, I have a 20 gallon hexagon with an undergravel and over the back filters, and I put plenty of oxygen in the water. Right now I have 4 tiger barbs and 3 rosy barbs, I was wondering if it would be ok to add 2 more tiger barbs and 2 more rosy barbs. Thanks

i currently have 4 rosy barbs in a 20g long and i think it's just large enough for them. since tiger/rosy barbs are so active, you really shouldn't keep more than 4 or so in a 20g.

some sites recommend a minimum of 30g for keeping tiger and rosy barbs.

personally though, i intend to keep 4 of my current 8 rosy barb fry. that would bring the total to 8 rosy barbs in my 20g long. so you can try adding 1 more barb and see if it's too crowded.

If the tiger barbs were not so active I would say go for it. But they are very active. Also they are a little aggressive and if it is overcrowded they may start really picking on each other so I would not add any more.

wouldn't the tiger barbs do better if I had a couple more to make a shoal of 6?

I would not add more because they are so active. But that's me, I like my fish to have more swimming room. Plus tiger barbs get to be a good size.
