I have a 22 gal comunnity freshwater Tank, inside are :

1 sunburst platy
4 neon tetras
2 ghost shrimp
3 Zebra Danios
1 golden gourami
1 Dwarf Gourami
1 Bristle nose pleco

It is planted with:

2 Echinodorus Bleheri
5 Hygrophila Difformis
2 Crinium Thaianum

Most of the amounts of fish I have at this point (i.e. 4 tetras instead of 6 or more) are becuase I didn't know about picking non sick fish and or cycling when I 1st got the tank about 2 months ago and lots of fish died. At this point I haven't lost a fish in a long time ( well for me a long time) and all my levels seem to stay the same ( ph 6.9-7.0, Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, Nitrate 20 ) so to me it seems as if the tank is fine. All the fish swim around and act " regular" so voice in "Is this tank overstocked?"

See sig below for pic

Right now its fine BUT watch out for the future when that pleco becomes HUGE and watch the gourami's closely they are agressive at some times.

The plec is super small and I understand they take a long time to grow, I will get a bigger tank when that time comes 9 I want one anyway) and I will move at least him there

i think your stocking is fine- the bristlenose doesnt get that big (4-6 inch max) so it is just about ok in there as well.

Yes you seem fine. But I would watch the gourami they will get aggressive, but I doubt towards the platy cause I had one and they were best buds. :D

I just got the drawf but I have had the golden for a bit and it never does anything aggessive in fact she plays around with the platy

Plecos grow very rapidly to a very large size, my two are 14'', and they are only around 3 years old (don't mimic my stocking levels, by the way, I added these fish years ago and am in the process of dispersing them) Ancistrus (Bristlenose) only grow to around 6''. However, most plecs are not very active, and a 75-100 gallon tank should be sufficient to house them.

Gee whiz, Ive never seen so many people comment overstocked for one tank...So lets look at this bit by bit:

Dwarf Gourami: 2-2.5 inches, can be agressive.
Golden Gourami: ~4 inches,
Neons: 1 inch each(If they are on roids): 4 Inches.
Platy: Up to 2 inches if a really big female(yes ive actually had one of these)
Bristlenose: Tank size can limit these guys, prolly 4 inches given the smallish tank.
Danio: 1.5 Inches so 4.5

Total: 2.5+4+4+1.5+4+4.5= 20.5 inches.

If anything the tank is a little top heavy, however as long as agression and space dont appear to be a visible issue this tank is fully stocked, and requires adequet filtration, as well as regular water changes: and will remain a good tank. As the sizes stand, the tank is understocked, but will not remain so as the fish grow.

With adequet cover there should be few problems: except for if Golden and Dwarf decided to have a tiff. If I had to say anything id just get rid of the Zebras on preference, and increase you neon numbers to 6...

One has to ask: Whats with the random livebearer? and Out of interest what are your water conditions and how old is your tank(how often you water change?)

As far as the top heavy part I would agree with you except with the danios darting about the Gourami's perfer to stay around the middle with the platy.

I have live plants that are growing in nicely and have set up (although it's still being perfected) lots of bogwood and rocks that seem to be doing the job

The random platy is becuase I didn't know what the hell I was doing when I got the fish (thank god for this place) I orginaly had 6 2 males and 4 females but all but the one were lost due to poor water condictions and a small case of ich which ran through the tank early on. this one survived and is doing great. the water changes happen at least once a week most of the time about 20%-25% and the levels are ph 6.9-7.0, ammonia 0, nitrite 0 , nitrate .20
