I moved my 4 leopard danios to my big tank on Saturday to lighten the load on the tank they were in previously. After they'd settled they seemed to start spawning within 4 hours. At first I thought "oh great, signs of happyness!" but now I'm worried as they don't seem to have let up.

I have 2 males and 2 females. I was away Saturday night and got back Sunday to find one of the females seemingly with swim bladder :( She was having trouble staying at the bottom of the tank. I wasn't sure what I could do as I don't have a breeding net or anything. Anyway, this morning she's still alive thankfully, so I'm going to get a breeding net on the way home today.

The other problem is that the 2 males just won't leave the other female alone. This morning they were chasing her about and I fear I'm going to return to another ill female :(

Ideally I think I need to add maybe 3 more females to calm them all down, would anyone agree? The other problem might be that they have a 180 litre tank to themselves for the moment, except for a 5" CAE (will be stocking it this weekend with the first group of pentazona barbs) Is all this space making them want to spawn?

Do you think putting the 2 females in a breeding net will help for now (if they are alive when I get home  )?

I would suggest gettting more females if you can. Also getting the danio group a bit bigger will help them to lay off each other some maybe. I have 5 danios together and have added to their group so they each pick on each other equally.

Maybe think about putting the males in the net, as they are being the naughty ones. And let the females have the roam of the tank for a bit. I know that sometimes helps calm down aggressive males.

Good Luck!
