just wondering if i can feed my oscars/ severums prawns. cause they seem to not like flakes anymore they eat it then spit back out. my dad said it makes the water dirty really quick, and he hates it cause it gets stinky. and bloodworms are costly lol oscar take 1 whole piece. any suggestions?

What food are you feeding? How big are the oscar and sevs? Prawns are fine for oscars, but I wouldn't recommend it as their only diet. Pellets like Tetra Doromin seem good for oscars, and ours loved them. Dried gammarus shrimp went down well too, as did shelled peas every now and then. :)

this is how I feed my oscar (now going on 7 inches, 8 months old)

Hikari oscar pellets
Omage cichlid pellets
Omega sinking shrimp Pellets
Omega sinking algea pellets (this is for the loaches and pleco as well, but the main ingredient is whole salmon anyway)
Frozen bloodworms
Frozen brine shrimp
Live earthworms
Live crickets
Live pest snails
Flies we manage to catch
Various other sinking foods
Tetramin cichlid color enhancing food

He grew to 6 inches in 6 months and now his growth slowed down

yeah they grow shed loads in the first year, once they get to about 8-10 inches and a yr old the slow right down and grow slowly but steadily pretty much the rest of they're life.

:good:
