i noticed something wasnt quiet right in the oscar tank this morning, it was too still, so i put the lights on and found waldorf (my female) lying on the bottom, not on her side (sulking position) but just lying there as if she'd sank down. now i threw some food in, she perked up, but didnt do her usual enthusastic jumping around drenching me, then within minutes she sank back down to the bottom. Statler is looking ever so worried and swimming over to her to nudge her, she responds by swimming up but within minutes shes back down on the floor. she has all her back spikes up which she never does and seems to be almost panting.

im ever so worried.

all water stats are normal 0 for ammonia and nitrite, 5 for nitrate, temp at 25

nothing 'new' added lately, apart from the heater was put in two weeks back, the temp had dropped to 20 in the freezing weather.

she used to lay eggs every 5 weeks or so but for the past 3 months we've had nothing from her, im wondering if that could be a sign of something wrong?

Is she bloated.
Does she look pale or darker in colour.
Any excess mucas on her gills.
Any red streaking or sores on her body.

Fish can heavy breath with a bacterial infection.
I would issolate her and use a bacterial med.

unfortunatly i havent got anywhere to issolate such a large fish so have had to dose the whole tank. i did a 50% water change first and she seems to have perked up a little since. fingers crossed she perks up a little more now.

She looks lovely in the pic.
Good Luck.

she is a beautiful fish, they both are, and cheeky as hell to match!
i hope she is ok :)
