I was thinking about 4 african cichlids with 20 neon tetras. Do you think it would work out?
My Tank size is 91cm by 40cm by 40cm.

Which 4 African cichlids did you have in mind?

As a sweeping statement, "no" is my my view, but convince me otherwise!

edit:Having just seen I was beaten to important question #1...

The only cichlid that comes to my mind would be young Lionhead cichlids (Steatocranus casuarius) before they become sexually mature and pair off. It would need a well thought out line-of-sight barrier design, but even then, you would need to remove the other two once a pair formed!

Most African Chiclids and Neon tetras won't work together. Have you looked into south American chiclids such as rams?

Yeah, a pair of rams would be OK with the neons, although I don't think neons would like the 28-30[sup]o[/sup]C required for rams. Have you considered other American dwarf Cichlids, such as various Apistogramma or Dwarf flag cichlids (Just examples, there are many)? These would work far better with the neons, as they are from similar environments. Another thing, have you thought about cardinal tetra? Not as hardy as the neons, but more chunky.

cardinal tetra? Not as hardy as the neons, but more chunky.
Cardinals are actually harder than neons in my experience and a lot of people think so also. They can also handle higher temps than neons. Or you could choose for Bolivian Rams they like lower temps in neons range

I am not sure with african cichlid, because the store just said its african cichlids. Its about 7.5cm and yel/blue/white/red body with some spots at its tail or fin. Maybe i might consider a ram. Any other fish to recommand? I don't want it too small though like neons. But as for the neons maybe i would change it to dainos or some other schooling fish.
