I like community 1. However you will end up with a lot more than 6 guppies and platties. By suckers do you mean plecos? Not all plecos can be kept in a 50 gallon, but bristle noses can. On combination 2 you would have to up the number of king widow tetras,if you were going to go for that community. Have you veer considered african cichlids? They have some nice colors.

number 1 anyday, however if by sucker u mean common plec, im afraid u could either only have them from small and give them away when they get bigger or not get thm at all.
liverbearers in a com. tank are the best :)

Tank no. 1.

I would leave out the elephantnose for a start- these are tricky fish even for experts to keep alive, with quite specific requirements.

As for the suckers- if they are common or sailfin plecos they will outgrow the tank. If they are Chinese algae eaters, these do grow aggressive with time. If you mean little otocinclus, these should be fine, maybe just get a few more. Just make sure you know what you are buying and the shop knows what they are selling (sadly not always the case).

What I would do for a 55 gallon tank would be 6 guppies (either all males or all females or 2 males and 4 females), 3 female platies (look as good and more amiable), a male and female bristlenose plec and maybe a small school of 6 tetras or so. Or if you want a larger show fish, a pearl gourami instead of the tetras. And the bristlenoses could be replaced by a school of corydoras catfish- these do not eat algae, but do scavenge a bit on the bottom (you still want to feed them)

Tank no. 2

Sounds fine but would increase the number of widow tetras (what are king widow tetras?) to 6. If these tetras grow no larger than the ordinary black widow tetras, you'd still have room for some otocinclus catfish once the tank has matured.

Tank no 3.

Oh, I don't really think this sounds a good option :sly:
