One Week On ,what Should I Expect?

Hi All, I set up my tank 7 days past and did the following, added API stress coat as soon as i was satisfied that everything was running ok, temperature is at 78F, PH is at 7.0, left tank overnight and when i checked it next day the water was crystal clear, so on day 2 i started dosing Filter Start, i kept dosing every day until today (day 7) I added ammonia till i got a reading of 4ppm, tomorrow i am going to my LFS and he is giving me some media from one of his mature filters which i am going to squeeze into my tank water and then add to my Ehiem 130 cannister filter i will then check my readings every day to see how it progresses. Am i doing this the correct way ? Anything im missing ?

Sounds about right. However, I don't think squeezing the media into the water will do much. The bacteria live on the media, not so muh in the water. You could skip that step and just toss it into your filter.

OK thanks for your reply,  i guess i will just put it in the filter then to get the greatest gains from it .

Be very wary if the filter media look at tanks for any signs of disease. That is a good way to get some bad diseases into your tank.
