Hi,

I have recently purchased a tank with everything else needed on ebay, it came with an old fluval 2 filter and I was wondering how many gallons of water it filters in an hour and will it be suitable for a 29 gallon? And if it is bigger than needed how many inches of fish could i fit in there?

Thanks Jack

Yeh it is a bit weak for a 29gal. I have the Fluval 2+ in my 16g.

Matt

Its not a fluval 2+ its a fluval no. 2 (i think, unless fluval 2+ doesnt say fluval 2+ on the actual filter)

yeh, i dont really know if they are better or worse than the 2+, anybody know??

Jack

I have the original fluval 3 (not fluval 3+) in a 24 gallon tank, and it does a very good job, but unless you are going for an understocked planted tank the fluval 2 would be too small for a 29 gallon.

If i got a fluval 2+ and kept my old fluval would it be good enough for me to get overstocked?

Do you think i could fit these fish in....

8 Cherry Barbs,
8 Tiger Barbs,
6 Neon Tetra,
3 Guppies (Male),
1 BN Pleco.

DEFO PUSHING IT BUT....... I really want these fish, I would be willing to take the tiger barbs out and putting some different fish in (suggestions).

Thanks Jack

If you want the Tiger Barbs, you'll need to get rid of the guppys and probably the neon tetras, the barbs will pick at them.
If you want to keep the guppys and neons, I would get rid of the tiger barbs; you could put some other kind of tetra in their place.

I think i will take out the barbs but i dont really want anymore tetras, any other suggestions??

Pencilfish - endlessly entertaining. Pentazona Barbs; not unlike Tiger Barbs, but very mild-mannered.
