well unfortunatly i noticed that a couple of our fish had white spot.

treated immediatly and took out about 50% of the water and treated with white spot and fed them and went to bed but sadly one one the platy was dead at the bottom

also noticed there is a tiny little snail in there-what do i do with him?

i need some advice aswell please, do i still add the white spot and safe water once a week even if i dont change any water? i thought once the water was treated that was it but obviously not otherwise they wouldnt of got white spot?

also as i only changed half the water i only treated the new water i put in-should i have also treated the remaining water? im a bit confused as i dont want to use more than recomended?

whitespot is caused by stress, is your tank cycled and if so, what are the water stats?

i've found snails in my tanks before, theyre harmless things and probably found it's way in to your tank from an aquatic plant.

as for dosing the whitespot, you should dose for the TOTAL volume of water, if you only treat 50 percent only half of the requierd amount will be in the tank and not be as effective. read the instructions on the med, and just remember when you change the water you dilute the amount of medication.

dont really know that much about cycling?

had the tank over a month and had it running a couple of days before adding fish-had water tested in 2 aquatic shops and was told it was fine?

so i need to add the same amount of white spot again-for the other half of the water i didnt change?

i have a dwarf gourami and he is attacking the new fish at the moment(obviously didnt buy all the fish in one go) so he has taken a dislike to the 2 platy(one of which has died) and 2 guppies......could this be related to the stress?? am trying my best to re-home the gourami as he has taken chunks out of the guppy tails and is being quite nasty to.
thanks rach

i'm guessing that the tank is cycled, but the cycling process and the dwarf gourami have probably led to the ich/whitespot.

you should add the same amount of white spot medication again for the unchanged water. when dosing, it is best to complete a water change and then dose in the tank. what do the instructions on the med say?
