Ok so here you are looking at another cycling question :hyper:

As u may or may no be aware i started a fishless cycle on my 25 gallon tank on Tues night. I made a mistake by putting to much ammonia in. Fixed this by doing a 40 % water change.

What i am questioning is, that i done a water test this morning. Ammonia at 4.0 and nitrite is 0.25. is this not quite soon for me to be seeing nitrite?

Using a Eheim 2217 external.

Thought i wouldnt get nitrite for about 2 weeks?

So thats the end of my cycling Query

Thanks for reading :hey: :hey: :hey:

Zoe

Wasnt much of a query :p what do you expect? NO its terrible, remove all the water and nuke the tank! Haha, jks of course :) Good stuff, hope its the start of a speedy cycle! :)

Ooooooh SPEEDY i like that word. :D

hopefully goes quick. was just a litle concerned as most people with cycling querys dont get nitrite for a couple of weeks, not a couple of days.

So if i am wrong correct me,

But i wait till it drops to 1.0 then bring it back up to 4.0 again.

Got a memory like a fish :hyper:

Sounds right to me. Do you know how much ammonia to use to bring it back up to 4?

My advice is don't even test for nitrite, nitrate or PH at the moment until your filter is processing 4ppm of ammonia in under 12 hours. It can only confuse matters. :good:

The only annoying question is the one you don't ask, if you know what i mean.

Ok. you need to raise ammonia by 3ppm and your tank is 25 gallons (113.75 Litres), so:

113.75 litres = 113,750ml

113,750ml / 1,000,000 x 3 = 0.34125ml of ammonia

Your solution is 9.5% ammonia, so:

0.34125ml / 9.5 x 100 = 3.6ml of your ammonia solution to be added. :good:

thats me in the bad books...................................................
