I was given a tank a week a go which came with 8 neon tetra's, a cherry barb and a cory. Within a day or two i noticed one of the tetra's was looking a bit mangy and was then named "scabby tetra". A few days later i counted only 7 tetra's swimming around and found scabby all dead on the bottom.
Its a terrible pic taken from my phone but this was scabby:

Now a few days later and one of the other tetra's is looking faded in colour, with white looking patches on the red markings and a bit mis-shapen. Hope the pictures can help
tetra at the top of the pic, purposely didn't crop out the others for comparison

the important stuff:
Water Parameters: 0 Ammonia and Nitrites, Ph ~ 7.2, Nitrates ~15
Tank size 118L (25UK gallons, 31US gallons)
Other inhabitants: 5 rasbora's, 2 corys, a betta, shrimp and apple snails
Only had the tank set up for a week and carried out the first water change yesterday of about 40%

Should i be concerned? :/

sick fish is paler today. I am pulling it out the tank. Going to pop to the pet shop and see if i can get SOMETHING to medicate it with. I know if it is Neon Tetra Disease then it probably won't work, but whatever lol.

Its still kind of with the other shoal, and only wanders off every now and again. Before Scabby died he was just in the centre of the tank on his own :/

NTD = bacterial meds and lots of vitamins
It's probably NTD, especially if they're stressed from the move. Separate the sick fish and hope for the best
Good luck!

Sick fish is still alive and still in quarantine. The other fish are looking fine. Im doing 80% water changes (its only in a really tiny 6L plastic viv) with water straight from the tank and pouring the old water down the sink - hoping this is ok.

What kind of vitamins? Im not even sure if it is eating atm, but i am still trying to feed it. How do you not stress a fish whilst keeping it on its own when it normally shoals? Ive kept a black tea towel over the tank to try and keep the stress levels low but dont know if its helping

pictures from yesterday - the spine is starting to kink and the fish doesnt stop straight anymore

from today - white 'patch' appearing over the red some more, blue is a lot less blatant than on the other tetras and the fish is getting really thin and lumpy :/

Fish is still rather active but i hold little hope for it surviving.

The white patches seemed to be getting smaller, but then today the little fish is swimming vertically, attempting to stay at the surface of the water, has rapid gill movement and is struggling to do anything.

little fish will be euthanised today :(

ETA: other fish are fine. keeping a very close eye on them

poor guy, sadly with NTD there's not much you can do
Good thing you separated him!

i suspected that the other tetra that died had NTD, but i didnt have the information available to me (id only briefly heard of it on here and then i was away for the weekend and didnt have forum access), and by the time i came home it was dead and there was a chance the other fish had eaten the body. Im just grateful that only other fish has been infected, because i honestly thought my whole tank (the rasbora and the other tetra's atleast) would have been wiped out. havent told the previous owner yet and dont think i will lol :/
