Now it’s Spring

Ive got these trees on my front and back gardens and they are beautiful when in full bloom🌸 nightmare when the leaves fall tho and the kids tread them all through the house lol

I want to send some freebies to someone in sd but it is still too cold there :(

Lovely --- Here the trees and bushes are just beginning to bud. The Forsentia will be firdt to show off. The daffodils and tulips are about 4 inches out of the ground.

This is a slow spring up north, but next week is all 60s.

We did here the red wing blackbirds yesterday so that is a very good sign.

I live on a 1/8 mile long driveway shared by 3 properties. Actually, the one at the top of the hill owns the driveway and is responsible for it. But the other two homes (one is ours) have a permanent right to use the driveway to access their property. Over the past 25+ years the property at the top has been landscaped by the same outfit. The result is there are now yellow daffodils which line the driveway from where it starts on the public road and all the way up on both sides until it hits our smaller driveway coming off of the main one about 2/3 of the way up/

Because the driveways are in the woods the flowers do not all bloom at the same time. But today was the first day that they were flowering on both sides the whole way up. It looks amazing and it will not last a lot longer.

Before fish and planted tanks I gardened outdoors. I did crocus and daffodils and tulips. The crocus have to be planted in a wire container otherwise the chipmunks will dig down and eat the bulbs. Chipmunks live underground, not in trees like squirrels.

Yes our cat used to bring my little sister gifts that made her squeel like no tomorrow. Once she wanted me to let her inside with her 'gift' (a nice plump chipmunk). I wouldn't so she drop it to yell at me; well that clever chipmunk was playing dead and the minute she dropped it - it took off - the cat was so mad at me she swatted me across the legs. Now normally she was a very sweet cat but man was she pissed at me....

My tree App was split between Japanese cherry and crab apple. If finally settled on cherry. Anewbie knows his/her trees. Impressive.

Here in NYC the cherries are in bloom now, as are the magnolias, callery pears and redbuds. The crabapples are just starting to bud.

I'm jet lagged from a trip this morning, and got up at 4 AM. But even worse, I'm Spring lagged.

In Paris and Prague, it was full on Spring. The lilacs were out, blossoms of all sorts were everywhere, and the world was that fresh vibrant new life green I've been wanting to see. It was 20c, and you could sleep with the window open. The nights were 10 or 11 degrees.

I got off the plane here and only the evergreens were anything other than grey or brown. The buds are still dormant, the grass is showing signs but is still mistrustful of the sunshine, and I figure it'll be 2 to 3 weeks before the season ramps up.

On the good side, I'll feel Spring twice this year. And when the nights here reach 10c (it was 4c last night) I can order some killie eggs, and enjoy another type of colourful new life blossoming here.
