Hi guys, I don't own a marine tank myself but I have a question. When my friend saw my freshwater fish tank he decided he wanted a tank himself. He has got a Rio 125 with marine T5 lighting and it has been running for over 6 months now with 2 shrimp deaths (I told him to try acclimatising more slowly).

Stocking is as follows:

2x Clownfish (1 black and 1 white)
1x Yellow tail Blue Damsel
1x completely purple Royal Grammar
3x snails
3x crabs (Dunno what type).

He has live rock and some small corals that are growing out of the rock. The LFS (Wharf Aquatics) has told him that he can only have 4 fish, is this correct, It just seems to be hardly anything. I was just surprised when he told me. Can you guys verify it please. Thanks guys :good:

That would be approx right :good: might be able to get away with another when tank stable and with a good water change routine. However, that blue damsel will probably start to cause problems later, in particular with the clowns - might be worth your friend considering a swop for something else.

Are you sure the royal is a royal?

ya damsels are really aggressive, and will be a pain in the rear later on. And the royal gramma could be a strawberry dottyback?

Thanks guys, I will mention that to him. :good: with regards to the RG, Wharf told him that the purple one is better because the yellow and purples are aggressive. Thanks for replying  :good:

Do you have a photo, i suspect its either an orchid dotty back  or a strawbery and I wouldnt want a strawberry in my tank  too aggressive
