I've just bought some moonlight leds for my tank, not that I'm anywhere near setting it up, but its got me asking myself questions about them. Should moonlights be on all night or just for a few hours? And if they should be turned off over night would it be worth them coming on for say an hour or so before the main lights in the morning?

Cheers
Dani

Hi Dani,

My original moonlight I left on for 24 hours (as I didn't have them on a timer and knew that I'd forget to turn them on/off). My husband's just made me some new cold cathode moonlight for one of my tanks and I've now put it on a timer - to come on 30 mins before the lights go off, and 30 mins before lights on (especially now the mornings are getting darker).

hi
our moonlights are on a timer so they come on 30mins before our main lights go off, they stay on for about an hour & a half then go off. i personally dont see the point in leaving them on all night if you're not there to watch your fish in the moonlight & im sure the lights would burn out quicker.
i dont bother with them coming on in the morning.

Thanks peeps. I was going to use a timer on my main lights so think I will do the same with the moonlights so they're not on all night and so I can set them for the mornings.
Cheers
Dani
