As a relative newcomer I've put this post here, hope it's in the right place.

I've got a tank that has cycled nicely, fish in, doing well, including 7 guppy fry with more on the way.

However, last fish I bought seems to have brought in whitespot, so I'm treating the tank with King British Whitespot treatment. I've read before on this fantastic forum that some treatments can interfere with readings or start a mini-cycle. Well my nitrIte readings are fluctuating from one day to the next (never more than .25 but still fluctuating) and my NitrAte readings have hit zero.

Has anyone had experience of this particular treatment and did they have the same experience - or is it something else in my tank having a fit?

Cheers in advance

As far as I know, this is a watered down version of WS3 white spot terminator, made by the same company. It contains Malachite Green and Quinine as active ingredients. Neither are 'supposed to' cause any harm to filter bacteria but I have my doubts. Ive used WS3 loads of times in the past and havent had problems with readings or filter issues, although I rarely go above half dosage and keep the water well aerated as I believe they cause the oxygen content in the water to dip, according to my test kits anyway.

Thanks for this..... I always keep my tanks aerated with a 12" airstone and 2 x 1" airstones, purely since cycling.... it seemed to help.

I'll cut the dosage (as I've been following recommended's) and see what happens.
