I lost my 2 guppies last night. Checked the nitrite this morning and it was sky high-I havent had nitrite that high since last xmas. The ammonia is very low -i've done a partial water change so lets hope this sorts the problem. Maybe ive been giving the fish slightly extra food since i had some baby mollies born 4 weeks ago. :/

That might be it. you might have been either right at or over the limit for capacity of your filter before the babies, and once your mollies had them, it put more strain with you putting more food in and your filter coudln't keep up, so it had to do a mini-cycle

yup probably right.

what's your tank size, stocking and filtration?

do daily 20% water changes until you get 0 ammonia and 0 nitrite and nitrate less than 40
