HI folks! I'm new but could do with some solid advice.

Ok so I've been fishless cycling with ammonia for a few weeks and the other day my readings were finally Ammonia - 0 Nitrite - 0 Nitrate - 10 when I woke up. I dosed ammonia back up to 4ppm and waited 24 hours for a final check. Again the readings were the same when I woke the next day. Hooray!!!!! readay for fish. I did a big water change 70-80 % ready for my new fish yet when I tested the water 30 mins after changing the water the Nitrites had shot right up!!

Can anyone advise me on what has happened? I used Nutrafin Aqua plus to condition the water approx 10 ml per 30 litres so I feel that I shouldn't have annialated the beneficial bacteriea which is advice others have posted! I am at a loss :(

Regards
Craig

hm.. what were your other stats? was it just the nitrates that had shot up? maybe wait another 24 hours and test again, to see if it goes back down. Definitely wait to add fish.
