alright! at first i wanted to buy a Seahorse, and found out their 45+ dollars. yeowza. wanted a Nudibranch or Starfish, and found out that the slugs are hard to care for and the stars' need coral, which i can't afford. seeing that i'm not a fan of the big marine fish and most need a LOT of space to live, i gave up on a marine tank. i think i'll stick to freshwater, thank-you-very-much.

well, i think i'd be getting a simple 20 gallon kit. i don't want a small, schooling fish community tank, i already have one. one that was horribly aquascaped to be precise, but the fish aren't complaining and i'm afraid to rearrange it in case i crush a snail or Kuhlii and they poison the water and everything dies

now, what i was thinking for this tank. unlike my community it would be double-lighted, whereas the community is lighted on one side (it's actually the effect i was going for, a big tree shading over the water of a tropical creek/river) the back would be HEAVILY planted with the same grass-plant i have growing, as well as assorted silk and plastic plants to add a touch of color. i've seen these pretty white and blue/red clay rocks, they're flat and standing up with a hole or two pushed through. i think i'd buy a pair and put them at a slant on the left side going in, the farther in front of the one closest to the glass. some nice, big pieces of fake driftwood would be in the center, surrounded by a few little pieces and some decorative river-stones. the substrate would be the same black hagen stones i seem to be attracted to, i like the dark-on-bright effect. the tank would be filtered by an undergravel filter, heated to 78-80 degrees and lighted around 10 hours a day.

now, i was wondering what fish to add to this tank i'd make. at first for my 10 gallon i wanted an Angel pair, so they'll be coming from my LPS. in addition a trio of natural Cories would be added, as a cleaner crew. that is around 20 inches of fish, the oh-so-handy calculator tells me i can have 30 inches. to fill in that space? five assorted Platies to dart around and be little clowns.

i've got this all worked out in my mind. it would take me forever to get and put together the tank, and at least three weeks to cycle it properly, so i'd probably only have it done by Christmas. add the fact that the next month's allowance will be dedicated to my community and pedigreed Betta-boy, but i just had to plan. i plan everything in advance. i think i even planned my brother's birthday in January already  but i can't help it, thinking about having such a pretty and well-though tank just sitting in my room...

the only thing is, i haven't decided on a tank shape. tall hex, long and flat, rectangular. i think i'll get a hex though, as Angels need tall space and it would probably fit on this neat nighttable my dad's buying me (he got sick of having me put books under my pillow all the time, lol) ^^

i'm insane ^^

If I understood you correctly, you stated you want to put angels in a 10g tank? If this is the case please dont do it. Angels need at a minimum 20g tall tank. Anything smaller will stunt their growth and live very unhappy lives. Aside from that, the description of what you want sounds really nice. Good luck to you.

actually, the tank would be a 20 gallon. if i can't afford the 20 gallon by christmas i'd be getting a 10 gallon kit and scrapping the driftwood/live plant idea for silk plants and the clay rocks, as well as keeping three Cory cats, five platies and a male-female swordtail pair in the tank. the more i think about it the more that would work better, since i already have the stand and it looks to small to hold a 20 gallon, just big enough for a 10 gallon though.
