new tank stand

as it says in the title i want to build a new tank stand as i am moving but i want the stand to house my dvd.video and hifi system(not speakers)
what do you think of a 49 gall tank being ontop of all the elecy
think it's safe??or a

In my experiencce, owning and maintaining an aquarium has an unwritten law, and that is, expect some water to splash about. I wouldn't put expensive electronic gear by a tank.

If you build the stand strong enough then there wont be a problem, a 50 gallon tank weighs roughly the same as 3 average sized adults so invite some friends round to jump up and down on the stand before placing the tank onto it.

u can build a strong stand but that doesnt mean there wont be a problem

water changes can often result in spilt water.....and from what i saw in a fish tank recently.....puttin new decor in...IE: a new rock....if dropped accidentally....can result in a cracked tank.....which could then result in water gettin out and ruining all ur expensive equipment

but if u can find a way of protecting ur equipment from the possibility of spilt water THEN there shouldnt be a problem

good look with it and i hope u are happy with it when its finished
