My mother's boss is getting rid of the tank in his office. It is somewhere between 55 and 90 (mom didn't know) gallon with all the equipment for a reef setup. It currently is being used for freshwater however. He is giving me everything for free!!!!!

I will be the one doing all the emptying, moving, etc... So until tomorrow when I go to get it it will be running. There are currently 2 fish in it, but I don't know what they are.

Here is my question: It will be about a 45 minute drive to pick it up. How do i make sure the bacteria in the filter survives the trip that way I can just get it home, fill it up and re-introduce the fish? Or would that be a bad idea considering it is like a 100% water change?

Thanks

Here is a pic. You can see a little bit of the tank on the left hand side. Obviously the picture wan't taken to show off the tank but a bit of it just happens to be in there. That is my sister at the reception desk.

Looks like a very nice acrylic aquarium. Just put the filter media in a bucket filled with water, it should survive the drive home and the time that it will take to set up the aquarium. You should be fine with re-introducing the fish, as long as you dechlorinate the water and use the old filter media.
