Okay, i have a 30 gallon tank, with the following stocking:
2 Angelfish
4 Mollies
2 Swordtails

But, recently, i have had 3 fish die. I had 2 guppies and 1 molly die. Why could this be? This was in a weeks span. I thought, well, maybe the angels attacked and killed them, but the guppies are over 3 inches big, and so was the molly. The tank stats are:

Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 20

Yeah it sound like you may have to many nitrates in the tank, i advise using nitrate minis or instaling an air pump to help reduce it. Do your fish tend to spend more time at the top of the tank? By the way i have only been keeping fish for about a year and a half so i may not be right

yeah no your nitrates seems fine, especially seeing as a healthy tank should have around 10 to 20 to me, means theres deffinately a good turnover of nitrites to nitrates in the tank!!!

i was just thinking, theres only a few things it could be dude, and seeing your experience in posts and join date you've probably come up with these ideas but here goes:

water too hard or too soft for them.

you bought some defective fish.

water chemistry as in there may be a high level of a certain chemical or even more so you may have got a hit of bad water.

again your angels may well have done this, they keep my cousins silver dollars fins trimmed even though the sd's are twice the size in both length and tail, sadly not also in agression. although the SD's tails wierdly have a captital S like shape which makes me think of superman HEHE.

but anyway my first plan of action if your rly worried bout it would be to check with the water board for any changes in the water, and found out if they r testing anything new or have had any complaints or negative test's themselves and even take ur water into the LFS for checking. To be honest id probably just try to replace them, youll eventually get some strong ones that will survive, and their like 1$ or <less over here so not to much of a boot to the bank. Of course no aquarist likes to see a death though i understand that :) thats why i spent 2 days keeping my upside down jewel in a bucket caring for him till he miraculously turned upright again yey.

have you got the right ph and water temp for these little guys?

they may have hit a small patch of bad water where some ammonia may have lingured

could there be a parasite or infectious bacteria/fungis etc??

i like to stay away from guppies and mollys of the sort for the condition they seem to be way to unpredictable and die for no reason at all, they remind me alot of neon tetra's in the way even a fully established tank doesn't seem to be able to keep them alive. just a fish that is too short lived and their small size makes them way to susceptible to even the smallest area of bad water!, GO CICHLIDS LOL no problems there except my poor julies who i think may have actually burnt themselves as they were both stuck inbetween the heater when found.

Okay, i have had the molly that died in this tank for about 4 months, and the 2 guppies were about 3 years old. The molly died first, then 2 days later the female guppy died, then the next day the male died. Thats one reason why i keep guppies. I am working on a hardier strain, and i have one, i just cant find anyone to sell it to. I have about 30 in a 30g tank waiting for any takers. Our water is naturally hard. And they were raised in it. If it was a bad batch of water, i would assume the angels would have died, but they are still alive and well. I do know one of the angelfish has a Callamanus worm, but i never saw any signs from the other fish, and i have copper running in the water to kill all eggs and larvae. The only reason i dont the angels played any part in this is becasue they have never been agressive, and the fish didnt show any signs of being mauled.
The fish showed no external markings. I think the one female maybe have died from pineconeing ( a few of her scales were slightly raised). But if it was pineconeing, that is caused by bad water, or poor nutritional diets. I dont ahve bad water, and i feed a variety, and include Spirulina in their diet.

could they have died of old age? i know seems a bit sus being all at the same time. but yeah not sure m8 :) goodluck with it dude! glade your grown stronger strains. if you can mass produce them i would think any respectful LFS would jump on them!

lol. I was going to sell them to a lfs. But they closed down until Late November, in which they will re-open. There is a lfs way out of the way i could sell them to, but to much trouble atm. The molly was less than a year old ( about 9 months), but the 2 guppies may have well died from being too old. It just all happend at once, which is why im worried.

mmm theres always a chance of something happening. i mean my tank which i clean twice a week and am always constantly cleaning the gravel got something in it the other day and had my big red jewel holding on by a thread. it was traumatic to say the least and i lost 2 nights sleep keeping him in a bucket and changing his water every hour. he did make a good recovery though so im kinda happy.

randome things happen. possibly even something like what happened to me? cause it had to be from the water as thats the only thing i cant control is what gets in from tapwater!

Okay, now i know it wasnt a accident. I had a fully grown Female Mooly die. The water is still normal. I have a pic of the female, but it dosent show much:
