Im going to be setting up a 10 gallon planted tank, with a retrofitted 2X13 watt light fixture from www.ahsupply.com along with flourite as a substrate (with some standard gravel thrown in for aesthetic purposes only, just a little bit) and the following plants...

dwarf hygrophila
java moss
water wisteria
dwarf rotala
dwarf ambulia

I do want a heavily planted tank, and i was wondering will these plants grow well with this type of lighting, or should i use more? i dont want things growing out of control, so i am hesitant of using stronger lighting, but i want these ones to get enough light to be healthy. also, if anyone knows if i would need nutrients or fertilizers or anything like that? (co2 isnt an option) thanks for the info!

imo, 2wpg in a 10g will make anything grow

ferts get some fe

if its growing too much dim the tank with some duckweed or something (careful duckweed grows like mad)

thnaks for the info, do you think that they will fill out the tank nicely or would i need more or less plants to get a heavily planted tank?

also, if you have either common pond snails or ramshorns, ill take every single snail that you have in your tank off your hands, (in a month or so) i need them!!!!!!!! NEEEEEEEEEEEEED!

btw, the flourite has lots of iron in in, so that should be fine, hopefully...

i live in evanston, il, and in a month or so, when i set up my tank, ill take all those pesky snails off your hands, my little puffers will love them....

and im trying to use only plants from the sri lanka/ SE asia/ india regions of the world in this tank, because thats where the fish im stocking come from, maybe ill try filling in with some crypts or something....

Crypts don't fill in well in a small tank; they have a small number of big leaves and spindly stems; it will look much nicer with Cabomba or some sort of hygrophila. By the way; you wasted A LOT of money at ahsupply; you could of gotten the same wattage from compact flourescents that screw into incadescent sockets, spraypainted the inside of your canopy white and gotten the same results for much less.
