Hi there, i'm new to these forums.

Had a small coldwater tank for 6 months now, although my tank was just wiped out by whitespot, didn't know how to recognise it, and by the time i put the treatment in, it was too late, so i lost all 4 fish

Anyway, we are going to be replenishing that tank once we have done the second dose of whitespot cleaner, and leave it a week or so, with a heavy water change.

However... we also want to run a tropical tank, and are buying a BiOrb 60L tank, stand, tropical kit, LED light, etc for it tomorrow. Would love some advice on how to set this up properly, temperatures, what sort of fish i could have together, plant life, etc if anyone can spare the time.

Thanks,

Ben

Hmm, i must really suck already, i assumed it was the same temp for all tropical fish.

See its things like this that makes me a n00b ¬_¬

To be honest it is roughly...There's only a few degrees difference for most types (obviously you have extremes). But if you buy a heater you can adjust it to a fairly wide range of temperatures anyway, wide enough so you can theoretically keep most if not all tropical species.Obviously you can't though as tank size dictates that...

Still not sure what sort of fish to get yet.

Originally intended to just get whatever i fancied in store, but i assume that mixing can have some "consequences" ?

(Tank is 13 Gallons)

Yeah...some species don't mix some do.some need to be kept in groups some need to be isolated. The best advice i could give is to visit the store, eye up what you like the look of, and come home and research...you can always go back an hour later or whatever the fish will still be there.(after you're tank has cycled this is...)

I will do, i'll grab some names for you ;)

Welcome to the forums! :hi:

Make sure you cycle your tank first or you will have a hard time getting started, trust me. For information on cycling your tank, click the **Fishless Cycle** link in my signature.
Good luck, and don't be afraid to ask questions, lots of nice folks here will help.
