I reserved 2 beautiful Angel fish today which I will collect tomorrow.

Apart from the shape of the males 'head' is there any other way to check if they are 1 male and 1 female (they are both quite large and so are not Juveniles)??

"Angelfish
Angelfish are nearly impossible to sex accurately. Occasionally fully mature males will show a bit of a nuchal hump, which is a bump on the head just above the eyes."

Yeah pretty much a myth, I mean:
"Occasionally fully mature males will show a bit of a nuchal hump, which is a bump on the head just above the eyes."
Is true in a sense, male angelfish do sometimes show a bump above the eyes, but then so do females, so it's not really a nuchal hump :good:.

I would say it's definitely not a myth. I would say that it's more likely that some males don't have that "hump". But, it's not quite as you describe. For some older males, the area between their eyes and top fin are much thicker and do hump out a little bit. I have a bunch of angels, and the "hump" is very pronounced on some of the males, but I have 2 breeding pairs, and niether male in that pair have the hump, but then again, they are younger.

I believe there may be some truth to this myth because all the females I have ever owned have a sloping forhead and the males are more curved, but I do not trust this method of sexoing, nor to I reccomend it. The only real way to get a male and a female is to buy a known pair, or to buy around 6 and let them pair off.

i wouldnt go with the hump thing. my full grown male has no hump at all. i found out his sex when he paired up and spawned.
