i am new to aquatics and i have a ten gal with 3 blood fins,1 cory, 2 giant danios and a neon, i have live plants and i can't seem to keep the algea down, i do weekly water changes of 15-30 %, and scrub the algea from the glass, i have the lights on a timer (8 hrs.), and the tank see's zero sunlight.. what am i doing wrong???

On top of what Silly me asked, Could be an excess of nitrate or phosphate or both. Water parameters would help here. Also how much do you feed the fish as this is often a source of excess phosphates. How often do you clean the gravel? keep us posted. :)

To give you that little extra help in minimisin' algal growth, I would suggest introducin' some Siamese Algae Eaters (S.A.E.'s) into your tank. From the evidence I've seen, they're more affective than Oto's. You'd be amazed at how fast they're mouths work while they're grazin'.

hey guys, its a really strange thing, the algea on the plants on one side is brown and on the other green and hair like.. i feed my fish once a day and i clean the gravel every three days.

as for the algea eaters i can't add any more fish as my tank is already full. i was looking for another solution?
