I've been away a while... but here I am again. I still have the original 2 10's with the original line-up, and I just got a 20 gallon (high). Any ideas what to stock it with? I want something not community, no tetras, platies, etc. Thinking of cichlids or the green tiger barbs, maybe a small shark. All ideas/advice welcome!
Thanks!! :D

I'm a bit of a cichlid lover myself, especially africans. Although your tank would be too small for Lake Malawi's, you could get some Tanganyika shell dwellers, lots of personality packed into a small fish. And, since they generally stay towards the bottom of the tank, you could get some kind of top dwelling fish to even the tank out.

You might check in the oddball section and see if there are any puffers you can keep in a 20gal, also very personable, and definatley not your average community fish.

If you want to try something new, you could always go brackish.

Great link! Thanks!!

Here are some ideas...

20-gal:
1 or 2 angels
pr of rams
5 green tiger barbs or rummy nose tetras
2-3 cory cats

in a 10-gal:
pair of brevis or 4-5 multis
maybe a few smaller fish (harlequins?) or some other top-dwelling fish

Would these work?

angels need a minimum of 30 gallons (high) for there tank size.

id go with a pair of rams, shoal of tetras and then some cory cats, heavily planted and youd be about stocked i think.

be a lovely tank tho.

for the 10G. if your gonna have african cichlids then you cant have anything else.

there aggressive lil buggers for starters and they prefer a much higher PH than other fish (this can be obtained by using coral sand as your substrate and limestone for rocks. both will naturally buffer the water perfectly for the african cichlids).

What about gobies...they are full of character......or mayb some killis.
