I have a dozen Nerite snails in several different freshwater tanks. They've all been doing well for several years and laying eggs which, of course, never hatch out.
I am now setting up a planted brackish water tank for a Figure Eight Puffer and some Bumble Bee Gobies [around 1.004 SG]. I know how puffers love snails (not as buddies) and have a tankful of pest snails and Red ramhorn culls to use as food.
I would like to try some Nerites in my first ever brackish tank, as this is their natural home. They are big and chunky, with a tough shell, but they do have tasty soft body parts sticking out as they zoom around.
Am I being unrealistic to imagine that a well-fed Mr Puffer might just ignore them..?

Funnily enough I added some nerites to the tank with South American puffers, and so far so good. The SAPs completely ignore them. Since nerites are cheap, I'd consider the gamble worth it. Try out a couple and see what happens!

Cheers, Neale

Agreed. My figure 8s go for anything snails shaped regardless of size. Not dropped nerites in but big ramshorns vanish instantly!
