okay. Whenever i feed my Neon tetras (it has been like this for 1-2 months since i cycled my tank), their stomachs stick out and they have trouble swimming downwards. I've read up on swim bladder and don't think it's that. Basically I feed them only as much as they can eat in 10-15 seconds every couple of days and the same thing happens without fail every time.

It's really weird as i haven't lost one yet. I've got the three worst ones in the hospital tank and have been treating for anti internal bacteria for 5 days now and it's not made a difference in all honesty. It looks disgusting, what is the best thing i can do? I want a shoal of ~10 neon tetras in time in my main tank

My neons get bulging stomachs too when they are fed. Just cos they are so small you notice it! Dunno about the funny swimming motion tho, why dont you try feeding them slightly less tonight and see if that helps?

it's def not the ammount i'm feeding them... is it? 10-15seconds they are eating and it's gone! Maybe its a cycling related problem? They got very ill during the high nitrite stage but i only lost one and they look healthy a long time after eating... It doesn't look right though

Could it be dropsy? their scales look stretched when they have eaten with a large round bulge sticking out. The scales go back in when they havent eaten for a while but I can still see stretched scales... or similar

could it be internal parasites?? weird as theyve had it for a month and they look healthy otherwise (when not fed for a day)

My Neons also get bulging stomachs after they have bloodworms (which is about once a week). I put it down to them eating an object about a third of their body size (like me eating a whole pig). It goes overnight. Scales standing up is more serious.

lol! well it's well ugly. Guess i'll pop them back into the main tank and buy some more neons :D
