If any one has seem them they are just dyed danios right? Some guy at my LFS said that was their natural color to a customer. I almost asked him to give the the scientific name for them

The name is glowfish, and they are not dyed.
I have them, and have done a lot of research on them.
What do you want to know?

At my lfs they don't have the W in the name. I was wondering if any one produced offspring from them that were the same color. Or if they were dyed.

I just answered my own question. They are genetically altered but not dyed.

There are a lot of wrong info going around out there.
They are danios. Zebra danios to be exact. They were genetically altered a long time ago to test for water problems. I don't agree with what they did with them back then, but only the first ones were actually messed with. Theyadded a gene from an anemone to make it fluorescent.
They are not sterile, and they breed true. The ones that you see now are not altered in any way. They are tank bred.
They were never dyed.

What would happen if the different colored danios interbred? Would it be one or the other or a different color?

I really don't know about mixing them. I guess it would be like any other fish... you could get pretty much any combo. They will breed with other danios, but I haven't tried it.

Sorry... I tend to get in a hurry and spelling becomes a thing of the past.

They are cool fish though. I have the pink, and I want the green and yellow.

Well I have an extra tank and I think it would be quite interesting to see what happens when they breed. Also get some other danios perhaps.

They dont have the w at the end because they cant put patent on a common name(I think its something like that). They arent really dyed, they are just genetically modified to glow under blacklights. I think they have jellyfish or coral genes in them or something. If you breed them, their offspring will be the same as them because of their genes, but they are supposed to be sterile. I think ocpn bred some before, im not 100% sure though.
