my husband took a intrest in my fish this morning as he noticed i was fed up wiht being at home all the time and with going back and forth to the hospital, so he decided to ask me some questions like what fish is this and this and then he went out i didnt really think much of it until he came back with 2 bags the first bag had 2 shrimp in which was great always love some shrimp.
.... the second bag had 6 plec in it very small less than 1 inch now he said the shop owner said they are ottos now ive already got these in my tank so i added them but when they swam out of the bag they are nothing like a otto. 3 are black and 3 are brown they all have spots on them and they all have a white line at the end of there tails i think they are ancistrus but im not sure

any ideas i cant post pics cause my dog has chews the end of the cable i need to put the pics on my computer

it sounds like a bristlenose.they are a lovely fish.they do a fantastic job of keeping plants clean when small.they also eat leftovers on the floor.they prefer some bogwood/plants etc so they have a little hideout.

look in the fish index under bristlenose.there are more pictures plus a superb write up telling you everything you need to know :good:

I have two very small Bristlenoses too. One is a very dark bown while the other is a much lighter sandy colour almost. Yours sund very much like mine so I think your assumption may be right. :)

Bristlenoses are great little chaps, but very big waste producers, so make sure you keep up with the cleaning, especially when they get bigger.
