Hi,
I have a 10g freshwater. It was started in March and was running smoothly up until I left for China in June. I had 2 blue rams that had spawned 3 times (unfortunately the eggs were eaten by other inhabitants.) I also had 3 harlequin rasboras, 3 otocinclus, and 4 amano shrimp. I had an automatic feeder set up, but I guess it wasn't enough. When I had returned from my 3 week vacation, one of the rasboras had jumped out of the tank and my male blue ram seemed very sickly. He just rested on the bottom most of the time and would swim around near the bottom for food. He eventually died, then my otocinclus died. Somehow, my shrimp climbed out of the tank and died as well. This all happened over a period of about 3-4 months.
I keep up with weekly water changes and my ammonia and nitrites are at 0. I don't have the exact stats for the other water parameters, but they are within normal limits. Recently, my female blue ram started to eat and swim less. She disappeared for a day and then I found her dead while changing the water. The two remaining rasboras had been eating well up until the last week. They only eat a few flakes and ignore the rest of the food. Similar to the others, they show no signs of physical distress or illness. They just aren't swimming around and eating as much as they used to.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Any help is greatly appreciated.
