I bought a pair of tiger endlers from someone who has been breeding them for generations starting from 4 pairs. Saw his large tank with 4 generations all looking the same. Mine have had 3 litters (if that's the word) of fry. Most of the fry look just like their dad/mum but two are strange
1. Female with 3 blue spots on her tail (Mum, sisters and granny were all plain white like endlers should be)
2. Male with a red tail (Tiger dad is black and yellow like all his ancestors and most of his sons)

Is it normal to have occasional strange fry with Tigers or are these guppy crosses? I had some young female guppy fry in with the endlers as I use it as a fry tank. Could these odd fry be crosses of Dad endler x young female guppy? Didn't notice young guppies were pregnant but one may have had a few fry before I moved them to my adult community tank.

Any ideas anyone?

No guppy or endler will breed 100% true you will some times get the odd ones they are kown as throw backs
you need to remove them or you will end up with all sorts of colours

Well to be fair, your "Tiger Endlers" are actually guppy/endler crosses anyway, and it's not uncommon for an occasional throw back to an earlier generation, things like that just happen sometime when it comes down to gene-trait.
It could also be that the fry are crosses, but that would usually affect the entire batch, not just 2.
If you're interested in seeing where their genetics would lead on, perhaps breed the female with a normal tiger once and see what occurs, she will give you about 6 "litters" and then stop.
Or if you want to keep your strain pure, just remove them from the gene pool by keeping them separate, no need to kill them.
