Hi all,

I'm still upset as my Blue Gourami was pregnant and managed to get herself lodged between the big bit of coral in my tank. She has never tried to 'get in' it before though. Do you think she was looking for a safe place to lay her eggs?, and do u think that it is safe to leave the coral in there, It's just, all the other fish love it, esp the Albino shark!!! I'm hoping to get another female within the next week as i'm sure the male keep's looking for her, he doesn't look happy at all. :(

Thanks all

Ems

Gourami breed much the same way as bettas, where the male will build a nest of bubbles under some plants and then they will if conditions are right, embrace.
I dont think you should have any fake coral in the tank as its a death trap to many fish and will have sharp bits on it. Best to get caves that are meant for tropical fish.

Really, i didn't think they did, he was alway's chasing her so maybe she wasn't quite ready. The coral is real, you can see my tank in this thread;

(1) that's not coral; its a collection of barnacles.

(2) BlackAngel's point is still valid. Barnacles and corals have many sharp edges and can easily damage fish. Unless you have very small fish (which you don't), you'll be better off removing that particular bit of decor.

Oh ok, sorry, still pretty new to the world of tropical fish!!

I will take it out and look for something safer. Thanks.
