My panda cory doesn't have its dorsal fin raised up, is this a bad sign? The panda also seems to be much less active than my other panda, he doesn't seem to eat much and just looks to be sleeping all day,

thanks for the advice,
bob

hi Fried rice

the dorsal fin down does indicate there is something wrong if its not acting like normal it could be a number of things its hard to say exactly what it is. all you could do is do more regular small water changes and see if it perks up and if its still the same after a day or 2 and theres no sign of anything on its body is to treat with a internal bactaria med :good:

Need more info.
Size of tank in gallons or litres.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
Clampled fins are a sign of stress and desease, so need to rule out bad water quality first.

ok my fishtank has 6 sunset coral platies, 1 longfin blue danio ( I had 2 but the other died four months ago), 2 panda cories, 2 albino cories
my pH is 7
the pet store never told me that I needed to test for ammonia and nitrates as long as I used hardy fish and did regular water changes, I normally change water once a week and clean the tank once a month

Its best to get a test kit of your own for situations like this. How big is the tank?

If the tank has been setup for over four months, it's probably already cycled, which is good.

We still need to look at water stats to see if the water quality is good, panda corys are very sensitive.
Check the barbels on the cory to see if there short and thin.
Any sores on the fish body.
If the panda corys acting lethagic and water quality is good its as sign of a bacterial infections.
Is the cory pale or darker in colour.

sadly my panda cory died this morning and in its last moments was quite a bit darker than my healthy cory,
i did a water change of 2 gallons for my 10 gallon tank today
