Hey all, i'm already thinking about my next tank, perhaps this should be in the you know you're a fishkeeper when... thread.

I want a small tank for one, maybe two species, i was looking at the Aqua One 320, 32 litres i think with undergravel filtration and good lighting.

My first idea was to rehouse my guppies with some ladies and have that as a guppy tank, so i could get something different, perhaps platys in my main tank.

My second idea that came to me tonight was Chocolate Gourami and harlequins. Filtering through peat for a nice natural acid chemistry.

My third idea was a nano reef, but there's a thread started on that in marines.

Do you really think the small setup i'm thinking of would cost alot more. The small tank probably wouldn't need a skimmer, especially for the fish i'm keeping. I'd only need a small amount of live rock. The real running cost would be for maintainance, RO water and salt for topups every week or so, plus the feeding would be a bit more costly.

Any other suggestions?

Well take into account

Tank - £10
3KG LR - £30+
Aragonite sand - £5
Lighting - £20
Heater - £15
Powerheads (need about 100GPH turnover) - £20+

So at least £100 for just the tank setup. So yeah i'd think it'd cost more

Well considering the tank i'm thinking of is £40 and comes with lighting that is suitable, and a powerhead attched to the undergravel filter. I'd only have to pay for the decoration, the same as a tropical tank. My real cost would be the use of RO water i think.

Would have to be a strong powerhead, wouldn't havea use for the UGF. LR is what you pay the most for. You don't have decoration in a marine tank, well IMO i'd never do it but you could.

Well, i guess live rock doubles as decoration!

I could always go down the chocolate gourami and harlequin rasps route. But not as colourful!
