My gourmis died

I had three blue gourmis in my 10gal for about 30 days. Yesterday I found one dead. I thought gourmis are suppose to be hardy? This is a cycled tanks. One of the two gourmis that is still alive is beaten up alot by the other. So the other one most be a male. The one that died had no marks on him. I removed the beaten up gourmis, put him in a 2.5gal, and added aquarium salt. I hope he doesn't die. I think I'm going to have to go back to all covicts again.

if the water parameters are fine, my guess would be that the gourami was killed by another gourami, even if you can't find marks on it. blue gouramis grow to be over 4 inches, so 10 gallons is way too small for them. they're also very territorial and my guess is you had at least 2 males which fought because they didn't have enough territory. did you know one was getting beaten up? why didn't you separate them? you should probably get a bigger tank for them or return one, especially if you have 2 males left. the way you can sex them is look at their dorsal fin, if it's rounded at the end, it's a female, if it's sharp and pointy, it's a male
