I bought a Ghost Knife fish and two more platty's on Tuesday and the next day i found the Ghost and 1 platty dead? I havent got a clue why they died there were no signs of any thing on them and my water is fine! Do you think they died cus of stress or something? I did everything correctly like float the bags and that!

Sounds like shock and acclimatisation problems of some sort. Do you know what your water parameters are - apart from "fine" ?

It's sad that it died, but perhaps best (under current circumstances) not to get another BGK. They can grow very large (16-20") so wouldn't be suitable for that tank or even tank mates - and started eating the cardinals.....

Also, do you know what your "plecs" are? Because (as you might already know) some can grow several feet long.

I last checked them the other day and i know they are fine!

No i dont think i will get another one now i know what it can grow 2, they are cute looking things though its a shame.

Yes i know i have Common Plecs and yes i know they grow really big which i didnt know when i started out

Checked my water lastnite as i found my new frog DEAD!! Other one is still alive and ive had him since day 1. Ive had quite a few frogs die but not this one, do you think he is bullying the new ones? I aint got a clue

Results are:

Ammonia 0ppm
Nitrite 0ppm
Nitrate 40ppm

What the hell is going on if my water is ok?? Gave it a good hoover yesterday aswell.

well Ph Shock isn't really a "problem" with your water but a difference in your tanks PH and the Aquarium you got it from's Ph and if you did not acclimatise for awhile prior to placing in the tank the PH difference may cause a death...

PH Shock and it means your water has a PH level with preferable levels of PH being between 6.5-7.5 7.0 being neutral and best for community tanks. If the fish you bought were in a PH of say 7.4 and your PH is 6.0 there will be PH shock and may cause death if the fish isn't acclimatised

Ahhh! Sorry i read it wrong then! Well my PH is 7.5 is that 2 much? I dont know what the aquariums are in the shop, maybe i should ask them next time before i buy them! I floated him for about half an hour this time as i thought maybe i didnt float my other ones enough and they got a shock from the water temp!

Ahhh right, see ive never done that!! Ok i will do that from now on! Thanks very much for that info, thats helped me alot!

Actually i checked the dead frog over lastnight and he did have a very small pinkish dot on his belly? Mean any thing? I checked the platy and Knifefish 2 when they died, but they did not have any signs of disease or injury.
