ok like 2 months ago i bought some african cichlids, i figured the first few weeks theyd take a while to get used to me but its been over 2 months, they are afraid of me, i even tryed not feeding them for 3 days then feeding them, they still wait till im far away from tank then go up and eat. what do i gotta do to get them to like me?

also side question, my cichlids are still juveniles and i figured theyd like small cichlid pellets they wont even eat um... they gotta have big ones... why? its stupid i figured it might be kuz they thought they were air bubbles but even when i slip um in with the big pellets they wont eat them (p.s big n small pellets are same brand)

thx

I don't know about the african ones but tattoo cichlid's love big pellets! I dont know what they're deal is with the smaller ones. Ironic isn't it?

yeah, fish can be strange ! lol! I have seen my golden gourami go for something he size of it's head.....

but as for my africans, I use mainly flakes.....

What type of Africans? How many in what size tank?

I've never heard of the more popular Africans being so skittish before. Usually the next day mine are always fine. What are your tank paramaters, especially ammonia? Not saying that's the problem but high ammonia levels cause most fish to be skittish.

How is the tank decorated? Is there plenty of hiding spaces etc? Paradoxically, most fish show themselves when there's more places to hide.
