My Fish Are Constipated

Right after I feed my female cherry barbs,their stomachs get really big. I think they're constipated (don't think its eggs). I've heard that feeding them a pea will fix it but is it okay if its peas from a can? I don't have any fresh peas.

Peas from a can sounds like a very bad idea to me, just buy a bag of frozen peas.

Do their stomachs return to normal size? And have you seem them poop at all?

No i've never seen them poo but i'm assuming that they do. THey are always big, about two times the size of my male cherry barb, and his stomach never sweels up. I've just notices that one's stomach gets abnormally poochy after I feed her. And she definetly eats a lot because she chases my other fish away frpm the food.

what were you feeding them regularly prior to the swelling?

I feed them flake food twice a day.
