Hello chaps,

I'm going to be picking up my tank this weekend ( hopefully ). Will be getting some mature media from a generous fellow member with any luck and will make sure my tank cycles okay for a few days before I add any fish. But, I've no idea what plants, or fish to get yet!!

This is my first tank so need some ideas, if you can link to pictures or your own fish or examples I would of course be grateful as I don't know many types of fish yet!

The tank will be a Juwel Vision 180L. Dimensions of the tank are 92cm long, 41cm deep, 55cm high.

I would like 1 - 2 schools of nice colourful and friendly fish if possible. + a few larger fish. I want well matching fish though, I want minimal fights and 'nips' in the tank if I can help it... the less headaches the better!! But would like some nice colours and pretty fish =D Ideally easy to look after too!

The other thing, if you're able to help is the plant life to add to the tank, easy to look after with the standard Juwel lighting and no CO2. I will probably decorate the tank with gravel and slate for the most part, if anyone knows of any safe white rocks I would love to know what type! :)

Thanks in advance,

Sean

Edit: Do I need any small things to clean up algea or whatever?

If you want a few schools a small fish I'd recommend any sort of tetra. What type really just depends on what colors you want. Red? Black? Zebra danios are good to as long as you keep a good school. If you want some bigger fish maybe some mollies or swordtails ( I keep mine in a trio 1 male 2 females) Also dwarf Gouramis or three spot gouramis would work( only get more than 1 if you're sure that you've got a male and a female, males are very territorial) If you want cichlids you could get a pair of angelfish or a pair of rams(german or Bolivian). bolivians are hardier than germans. for bottom feeders I'd recommend cory catfish. If you want an algae eater, Otocinculus would work. A pleco might work but remember that they grow. I'm not much help with plants.
