Hey guys,

As you can see in my sig I have a spare 55 litre tank hanging around. I really want to set it up again, but I don't think my dad will let me. We both play guitar and, I think he's scared that I'll get into fishkeeping more than playing music. I need some way to persuade and convince him to let me set up the tank. So I was wondering if anyone could help me out? Has anyone got a way to calmly tell my dad but persuade him at the same time?

Thanks

Pretend its somthing else you want to do, together ;)

Reassure him that you have plenty of time to enjoy both hobbies, that you will not neglect your music.

You're allowed to have multiple interests, I of all people should know. I love wildlife and animals, but I'm really into music. I've been drumming for almost 7 years now, and also have taught myself guitar.

God Bless,
Joshua

Ask him if he would prefer you changing water in the tank or playing music at 10.30pm when he has a headache.

Always works :D

10:30pm isn't that late to be playing music. I've drummed at midnight before (both my parents were still awake though).

set up the tank, and ask your dad to choose the fish for it...

Sounds like a good idea. He might enjoy being involved :)

God Bless,
Joshua

Also let him know that you enjoy playing guitar with him and look forward to it, that will reassure him and he wont mind if you tend fish as well ;)

Say that watching the fish will make you relax more and be able to play the guitar better. And when you have your own way you will be able to get back to playing rather than being wound up about wanting this spare tank set up.

Cleary it's logical that he lets you set up the spare tank. Actually after reading this it'd be also entirely logical to just let you get an, at least 200 gallon tank . I mean just imagine how relaxed you'd be after watching it, and imagine how good you could play guitar then ;).

Oh yeah! He'll let me have a 900 litre! :hyper: If, we had a place to put it lol. But thanks guys, this should convince him when he gets back.

i find my dad the hardest to persuade out of the two and am correctly having problems persuading him to let me replace my current tank
