 I want these so badly  and I asked my husband if he would get them for me for Christmas :santa: and he said I only want something that ugly because it's expensive and rare :-( I don't think that's very nice. In fact, I think it's downright :eek:sama: I'll just "ask" him later :shifty:

well, they are the "hot" betta right now, i think they look awesome myself ;)

Those are incredible.

He might have said no because it's only September.

Start to put up some Christmas decorations and sing some Christmas carols. Get him in the Holiday Spirit. :shifty:

i cant see a pic or anything but im guessing u are asking for betta macrostoma? just because i know u have been looking for em. i recently saw a few pairs on aquabid for 150$$ :dunno:

Wow that's a big price tag!!
They do look very unique tho.

They look like large minnows (I use for fishing) with indian paint on them! sorry But they are ONE OF A KIND !!! :flex: wich I like (can you say $$$) :shifty:

i dont like them :( maybe id buy one for less than $10, but $11 and up-no way :p
i bet the thai people just go out in their backyards and scoop them up and laugh that they can sell them to americans for $400.

ok ok-i know thats not true but it seems silly :fun:

they are pretty hard to find, even for thai people ;)
one of the reasons they are expensive is the fact that they are extremely hard to breed. i know some people on another forum who had macrostoma they were willing to part with, thing was, you had to prove to them that you knew what you were doing before they would even consider selling to you. ;)

What irritates me about my dear husband is that he thinks I want them for prestige, which isn't true. I fell in love with them the second I saw them in my Dr. Axelrod book, at the time not even knowing they were bettas  I just think they are amazing, but scary too. I'd definately have to get an R/O unit, oops! More money :look:

I really want to get into some mouthbrooders, but the only ones I've come across are falx, and Julie won't let me get any unless they are hers (grow babies!! :flex: ) I love her foerschi too, ok now I'm rambling. :*)

edit-random smilie in interesting place :dunno:

Ugly fish? Just sounds like a good excuse to get out of paying for them to me. That sure is a steep price. People call moose ugly. We have lots of them around here. They are not ugly if you see one up close. "Awe-inspiring" and "magnificent" are better names for them and they're extremely graceful too. But they are "unique" looking. That I will say for them. Ditto those bettas.

So how about telling your hubby that those bettas are "awe-inspiring" and "magnificent" and "extremely graceful" and "unique"? It might work! Good luck.

Exactly!! He told me that he would pay that much if he saw a fish that made him say "wow" so I waited a while and showed him a picture of a zebra pleco (which is what I was going to ask for for my birthday :p ) And he said "wow". I told him how much and he said no

I just can't win
