A True Oddball
Well, as some of you may now, I've just had a batch of cory eggs, totally unexpected, as hadn't started to try and breed them.
But its seems I must doing something right, as my Black Phantom Tetras seem to be engaging in spawning rituals, the males are chasing the females, and then catching them in the plants and shimming against each other, I haven't seen any eggs yet, and I doubt I'm skilled enough to raise tetra fry, as they are photosensitive and require alot of care.
My female OTO also seem to have plumped up abit of the last few days, so maybe sheis carriing eggs too.
The danios have been breeding since I got them, I think, but they just eat the eggs.
its so strange as I'm not running the tank 100% the way in which people are guided I've not done a water change on it since setting it up about 3-4months ago, I've just been topping it up when the water level drops.
I did have a small out brake of hair algae, but that has more or less gone on its own now.
I feed frozen blood worm, every 2-3days and on other daysd I put the following in:
- Tetra Pro
- Sera Catfish Chips
- Tetra Tabimin Complete
even my male fighter has been building LARGE nests.
I also had a single chain loach, who was very retiring and shy, so I got him two 'friends' since adding them, he is completely changed, he is whizzing about the tank, and where he hadn't grown at all since buying him, he has grown up to the size of the other two, as they were bigger.
Its great to watch them as the whizz about for a few minutes and then they have to sit and rest, and to see them outta breath is funny, they sit on the nearest perch (not the fish) and breathe rapidly, and they sit for a few seconds get their wind back, and they're off again
