i was in my lfs recently and saw a mudskipper. i've always thought they would be really neat fish to keep so i started doing some research on them. I know they require some salt in their water but i was unable to lcate just how much salt there should be. Does anyone know ho wmuch salt a mudskipper requires?

Mudskippers are very tolerant of a range of salinities. Although none do well in freshwater (i.e., all will die under such conditions, sooner or later) you can maintain most species at between SG 1.005 and SG 1.015. Slight variations within this range are harmless.

Do read Richard Melczko's mudskipper pages, here. He's probably the most expert mudskipper keeper around, and wrote the chapter on them for my book.

Cheers, Neale

I've found my Mudskippers to be quite tolerant of different salinities, they probably prefer the higher end of brackish, but the low-end may be more practical as you can keep plants and have less marine salt costs.
