As i mentioned in my last thread that my room will go under construction and i have to stay in the living room till its finished. the problem is that my fish tank is in my room and i was preparing for this by keeping the bags which the LFS put the fish in. i dont have a lot of suggestions to put the tank but in the garage but i was worried that cars go in there and the fumes might poison the fish if this is true but when this time comes i will:

1) put the fish in the separate bags i kept
2) empty the water out keeping a bucket full of tank water to refill
3) put the tank in the decided position and refill the water from the bucket full of the tank water
4) put fish back in after 10 minutes for the water to sit in the tank as a bucket full of water isnt all of the tank water so the temerature might change from the new water added.

I was thinking of putting it in the living room but the tables there have one leg in the center of the base which might not be stable

How long will you need to vacate your room for?

Unless you're running the car in the garage, your fish shouldn't be affected. If you're worried about the fumes from startup, maybe leave the garage doors open for a little bit afterwards and put a towel over any gaps over the tank to prevent any airborne nasties getting in.

Im not for certain how long but i would say about 3-4months. About the car fumes i just have to be certain if car fumes affect the fish also would the air pump prevent that?

Sorry for bringing this topic back up but my dad did say he will start my room in march so i have to be curtain on what to do and i thought that i can put all the fish in a separate bucket then in the bags

If you can put the tank in the living room I would do so, even if it means having it on the floor rather than a table (make sure it's not an area that it'll get tripped over). If you have to have it in the garage then put a towel over the top to prevent the worst of the airborne nasties getting in and keep an eye on it.

When you're ready to move the tank just put some tank water in a bucket then net them in. When you've moved the tank I probably wouldn't bother with the bags. Just put the fish in the tank with their bucket water then slowly trickle the new water in. I do 50-80% changes on a weekly basis and have never lost a fish that way.

Im thinking that ill bring the cabinet which the tank is currently on in the living room and will try my best to make it curtain that we'll put it in the living room not in the garage and yeah was thinking of doing the same thing you did
