im moving my tropical freshwater tank on sunday (about 8 miles)...any tips on moving the fish?

thanks all in advance

Good luck with that, moving house with fish sounds like quite a stressful procedure for both fish and human.

Since it wasn't mentioned in the guide...
- If you can find some extra Styrofoam to pad the corners/edges of your tank, do so as this can help prevent an accidental chip.
- Masking or hurricane tape placed as X's across the glass surfaces help to reduce the chance of breakage and/or provides some control over where the glass goes if an accident occurs.
- When placing the bags of fish in an insulated box it's good to use some packing material like crumpled newspaper to provide extra insulation.

all went well......managed to take about 80% of the old tank water to my new house yesterday morning, all fish seem happy this morning and the tank is looking great as ever

the best part was driving as steady as i could while transporting nearly 100 liters of water and fish also tanks and stand in my volvo along some of the bumpiest, twistiest and hilliest(sp) country lanes in north hampshire, owning a big estate car does come in very handy at times

thanks again everyone
