I have a couple of tanks and I would like to swap some fish between these tanks.

Should I just pop the fish in or do they need acclimatising (ie put into fish-shop bag and leave for 30 mins)?

Thanks

Martin

I have occassionally popped a platy or guppy directly into a different tank - when I know the temperature and water are practically identical - and it doesn't seem to have bothered them at all.

With larger fish - or when I know the water is different (I filter some of my water through peat), I've put them in a bag and treated them like new fish.

Ive always just switched them over - net them up and set them in the new tank. My tanks have the same water and quality and are kept at approx. the same temp. I have not had any problems in doing it this way. But, as mentioned if you have a more expensive or larger fish, you may want to acclimate just in case!
