Fish Crazy
Boy well I moved house and I had to move my 240L rio tank and what a nightmare, I managed to move it all in the end did a spring clean of the tank by removing all the plants and putting in new ones and then adding more sand for my new plants and setup.
Well in the move I nearly killed one of my clown loaches, I took out a pice of ornament and it was stuck in there. I shook it before i took it out so that all the hiding fish would leave the rock in the water, but nooo the clown loach stayed in it and I thought there were no fish in it and took it outside the house.
So when I removed all the plants and ornamts and did a stock take, I relised that one clown loach was missing, I search everywhere in the tank and no luck as there was nothing in the tank exept fish and sand. I went outside the house and saw him on the floor, freaking out I picked him up and chucked him in the tank. He didn't move so I thought it's the end. I chucked him in my dustbin where all my old tank plants were and I saw him jiggling himself deeper into the plants. I realised he was still alive and grabbed him and back in the tank he went and he survived. But it did not end there. One Khulie loach did the same thing. But he was on the floor next to another rock (these are those reef rocks with loads of holes in them) I have chucked them out now. He survived also.
At the end of emptying out the tank. I started to remove the sand. All the water was out at this point.
A few months ago I bought a whiptail catfish. I never saw it since introducing it into the tank and thought it had died been eated by the other fish in there. But lo and behold. There it was, in the sand, still alive. So I chucked him in with the other fish that were bagged. I can't beleive that he is still alive and in the sand and always hiding, he hasn't grown in size so i'm wondering if it is hibernating. So I now have a fish that is in the sand. (I have river sand as substrate in case you are wondering)
OK so it does not end there.
I got to my new house and nearly Killed my angel fish he was looking poorly and when i introduced her into the tank she was swimming in circles. I was heart broken. This was after the cold water problem.
I was filling up my tank with water and the water was 10 Celcius. I had to boil water and add 10 Kettles of hot water to get the temperature to 20 deg.
I had to place my fish in the tank as on looked poorly he was belly side up (a cory) and I had them in the bag for 6 hours (I know I know, NOT GOOD
).
I introduced them all into the water and the next day YAY, they were all swimming around.
BUT then I noticed my Clown Loaches and Black Ghost Knife fish were missing. After a search they were found hidding in the Filter. I use an external filter and the Filter in the tank. So I couldn't switch on the filter in the tank as I was afraid of getting them sucked into the pump and choped up. One week later the Clown Loaches were still hiding all day in the filter and the Ghost Knife fish also.
I did a water change this weekend and while pouring water into the tank (I pour it into the filter box as it doesn't disturb the layout of the tank or sand), I poured it over the Ghost Knife fish and the water was cold but I didn't realise this!!!!. When I looked at him he was dead still. I thought I really Killed fish this time.
I took him out and placed him in the tank and Just stood and waited. At first I thought I really Killed it. But then it started to move. Now it's fine. I got up early on sunday and found the Clown Loaches roaming in the tank and the Ghost Knife fish. I quickly Blocked the hole to the filter and put in the pump in. They are back all in the tank finally and it's been a 2 weeks all water quality looks good and NO DEAD FISH!!!!! THE SAGA HAS ENDED
